What is UV + TiO₂ technology?
It is an advanced oxidation process combining UV-C light with titanium dioxide as a photocatalyst. Irradiation activates the TiO₂ surface and creates reactive species that act on microorganisms and certain compounds. Its application depends on water conditions and the complete treatment train.
What is the capacity of the ICE15 system?
The test documents identify an ICE15 configuration rated at 15 gallons per minute, approximately 3.5 m³ per hour, with 254 nm UV-C. That figure describes the tested equipment; it is not a capacity promise for every installation.
What do the laboratory tests show?
An experimental study published by the University of Panama reported 100% E. coli removal and 99.9% Pseudomonas aeruginosa removal in prepared, inoculated potable water with low turbidity, neutralized chlorine and recirculation. A separate study using well water from the UTP campus in Veraguas reported 99.9% total-coliform reduction and 100% fecal-coliform reduction in analyzed samples. These are results under defined conditions, not universal guarantees.
Can it treat water from any source?
There is no single setup for every source. Origin, flow, turbidity and other parameters are reviewed first. That information determines whether filtration, pretreatment or other complementary stages are required.
Where can it be installed?
The solution can be evaluated for community, residential, commercial and industrial water-treatment projects. The final configuration depends on water analysis, project goals and applicable requirements.
Does the technology replace every existing treatment?
Not necessarily. UV + TiO₂ can be one part of a broader treatment train. Solids, minerals, turbidity or other contaminants may require additional processes before or after disinfection.
What maintenance is required?
The plan depends on the installation and includes inspection, cleaning, component checks and water-quality follow-up. Ice Innova Panama defines tasks and intervals after evaluating the system.
